This month the Moonlight Quilters Guild had returning guest speaker Patricia Belyea of Okan Arts visit us in Bellingham, WA. Patricia is known for importing and quilting with Yukata cottons. If you ever get a chance to visit her studio/store in Seattle it is defiantly a treat!
I’ve meet Patricia a number of times over the year and I love how she combines Yukata fabrics with modern quilting cottons. This time she spoke on “When a Quilt is More Than a Quilt,” stories about her commissions experience creating quilts using clothing from loved ones. It chronicled the processes of designing the quilts, working with her clients and dealing with the failing health of her mother.
I was very pleased to have her speak at our guild. I always love her stories and humor, as well as her modern take on quilting. Hopefully one of these days I can make it out to one of her retreats or workshops!
This month I did have one lonely friendship block to turn in…
